The Grubgulp Letters – #4 The Homeschool Convention

My Dear Toadwaft,

It’s too bad your Charge won’t be returning the books after all.  Anura obviously failed in his attempt to influence your Charge’s husband.  He will be dealt with.  I note with dismay that your Charge has no plans to remove the offensive pages either. Oh, well, sometimes we just have to work with what we have.

You say that your Charge is going to attend the homeschool convention.  This is good news!  ResoundingGong and ClangingCymbal have been working endlessly with the conference organisers to make sure that only like-minded people will be attending. Blank and Cipher are making sure that the speakers will be primed and ready to wax eloquently on the importance of choosing a ‘Bible-based curriculum’ and to stress the point that not all Bible-based curriculums are equal.  Indeed, some are more Correct than others and it is important that your Charge knows this.

It is imperative that at this conference your Charge will feel overwhelmed with all the choices out there and to feel inadequate to intelligently make an informed decision on her own.  Furthermore, she does not have the time to puzzle it all out.  Blank and Cipher will make sure that their Charges will speak out against the curriculum your Charge has chosen and your job is to make sure your Charge hears it and feels – not defensive and indignant – but guilty. It may or may not cause her to return the books, but at least she will never view her curriculum – or indeed, the world –  in the same way again.

Looking forward to your next report,
Grubgulp
