Movie Review: The Perks of Being a Wallflower

A lime green wall with the words 'we are infinite', a boy stands beside a girl, she leans her head on the shoulder of another boyTook Miss Turned-14-Today to watch The Perks of a Being a Wallflower as a birthday treat.  It is wonderful, coming-of-age film starring Logan Lerman, Emma Watson and Ezra Miller among others who all put in stellar performances.

The film is set in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and tells the story of Charlie’s freshman year over the 1991/1992 school year.

Parental Guide: It has a PG rating and contains references to and/or portrayals of sexuality, drugs, abuse and mental illness. Writing it out like that makes the film sound really awful, but I feel that the other moments of love, friendship, and overcoming one’s struggles make this one of the most satisfying movie experiences of the year.
