Movie Review: Every Child Is Different

My mother sent me the YouTube link to this movie and I am so glad she did.

Taare Zameen Par (Every Child is Different) is a 2007 Indian film about eight-year-old Ishaan who has trouble concentrating in school.  He is labelled lazy and naughty and his father, as a last resort, sends him to a boarding school where his problems continue.  The new temporary art teacher notices Ishaan and cares enough to help him overcome his learning challenges and encourage him in his talents.

The film is in Hindi and as with many Hindi films, the characters speak a mixture of Hindi and English.  At two-hours-and-forty-two minutes, it is LOOONG.  I didn’t feel its length, although I suppose some scenes could have been deleted or condensed to make it flow a bit better.  As with most Bollywood films, this one has its fair share of singing and dancing. 😉

The YouTube link has the subtitles off as its default.  You will need to click on the ‘Captions’ icon and then ‘English’ to view the film with English subtitles.

Have lots of tissues on hand.
